The CSM (Certified Scrum Master) certification is a globally recognized and accepted credential offered by GAQM. The certificate is designed for those professionals who have gone through the relevant training and have validated their skills in Scrum practices, principles, and terminologies. The target audience for this certification includes software architects, project managers in various industries, developers, product owners, coders, and testers. There are numerous career opportunities for the individuals who have developed a strong knowledge and expertise in scrum agile development and practices, and this knowledge is validated through the CSM test.

The CSM exam is made up of 35 multiple-choice questions. To pass the test, the candidate is expected to get the answers to at least 24 out of the 35 questions correctly. It is essential to reiterate that the students can only take the exam after going through the two days training. The time allotted for the completion of the test is 60 minutes. The applicants can pause and re-start the exam and they can also take break in-between. There is also an opportunity to skip questions and go back to them. You can also bookmark a question and return to review it later. You can review all your answers at the end of the test before submitting. When you click the submit button, you will be notified if there is any question you miss out. As soon as you submit your answers, you will receive your scores on the computer screen immediately.

There are no formal prerequisites for writing the CSM test and becoming a Certified Scrum Master. However, it is recommended that the candidates have a level of understanding on the principles of scrum, as well as a working knowledge of the total scrum process. The test takers should also have a full understanding of the individual functions of development team and product owner. Before attempting the CSM exam, the students are required to attend two-day CSM training from a CST (Certified Scrum Trainer). The CST is a senior expert who has gone through the rigorous evaluation process of Scrum Alliance. After going through the course, one will have to take an online exam. The contents of the exam would have been dealt with during the CSM training.

Those individuals who fail the exam can retake it within sixty days after taking the training course. You can take the test immediately but if you fail at your second attempt, you will have to pay a $25 exam fee to Scrum Alliance. If you fail for the third time, it is recommended that you take the CSM training course again.
